I have to admit that I rather enjoy lecturing: it must the frustrated actor furiously emoting within me.

I have spoken at a number of places from the frightfully grand drawing rooms of stately homes to the frankly scuzzy back rooms of distant village halls. Most notably I have lectured for the Royal Horticultural Society in Doncaster and Ross-on-Wye, at the Garden Shows at both Stansted and Ragley Halls, at Urban Gardens, The Hardy Plant Society, Gardeners’ World Live, Coton Manor Garden School, The Hatfield Rose Festival, The English Garden School, The Oxford Literary Festival, Barnsley House, Capel Manor College and various local Horticultural Societies and Garden Clubs.

I have run the Design Forum at the Chelsea Flower Show (2007-8) and been the master of ceremonies at the Garden Media Guild Awards. But more importantly I run the theatre at the Malvern Spring Show. This is my favourite venue because the site is stunning, the people delightful and I can get away with almost anything. I co-host with my friend Joe Swift with guest appearances from Alan Titchmarsh, Monty Don, Chris Beardshaw and Diarmuid Gavin. If you have not yet been to Malvern then you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves.
